Nutritional Therapy – Functional Medicine
Nutritional Therapy not simply about ‘food’. Grounded in recognised science and evidence based research it examines how our health can be affected by not only what we eat but also by ourlifestyle, emotions, genetics, environmental toxins and stressors.
Our Practitioner
Functional Medicine is based on the understanding that all the ‘systems’ of the body are inter-related, including the digestive, hormonal, endocrine, neurological, detoxification, energy and immune systems, each one impacting the other. When it comes to health and ‘dis-ease’, understanding these complex connections in the body is the key to positive results. Sarah aims to identify, through a detailed first consultation, events in your life that might have contributed to a state of ill health or just feeling below par. This includes assessing pre-conception, childhood illnesses, long-term diet patterns, genetics, environmental exposures, sleep issues, medications, emotional and physical stressors, with the aim to rebalance and address the health issues you are facing. Laboratory tests are often suggested in order to achieve a more targeted approach to your programme. Our practitioner works with fully regulated laboratories, with state of the art testing.

Who Is It For?
Virtually everyone can benefit from Nutritional Therapy – Functional Medicine. Even if you do not have a particular health concern but you are confused over the correct supplement to take or food to eat, Sarah can help make information clearer for you. Sarah works with adults, elderly and children with a range of issues from mental health; sports; chronic fatigue/ME/fatigue; digestive; hormonal problems; lymes disease; fertility problems; anxiety; skin; weight; auto-immune; immunity; joint or inflammatory concerns; or clients whom simply want to improve health or assess their nutritional intake. Please always feel free to contact us concerning any health concern.
What is the Process?
Sarah’s approach is to meet with you and understand your needs through careful questioning and research. Having worked in the corporate world for many years before re-training, she is very much a realist and is aware that most of us lead busy lives, which are often shaped by deeply rooted habits. Together, you will explore your key concerns, issues or goals.
First Consultation
Up to 75 minutes
Clients are required to complete a health questionnaire prior to the consultation. Sarah will give you feedback at the end of the consultation about how you can work together and any functional laboratory tests she feels maybe appropriate. Tests are not always necessary, however they allow for a more targeted approach to your programme.
Following the consultation Sarah will complete a further detailed analysis, taking into account your priorities and will compile an individually tailored programme, which will be sent onto you by email. This may include some supplements. Please be aware the initial cost includes not only the time spent together in the consultation but also the time spent writing up your detailed programme, your food plan, handouts, ordering of test kits.
Follow Up Consultations
Up to 60 minutes
It is important to have at least one follow-up session with our Nutritional Therapist. This may entail discussing any test results or health programmes you have already started. Every client is unique – therefore Sarah may need to change your programme as you progress. Please be aware the follow up cost includes not only the time spent together in the consultation but also the time spent amending your programme, interpretation of results, handouts and ordering any further test kits.
Sarah offers complimentary 15 minute calls to discuss any concerns you may have or queries before booking your appointment. Please ask reception for more details about this.
